French Toast

Beat up one egg for each slice of bread.
Pour in a little bit of milk with it (maybe 1 - 2 Tb/egg)
Sprinkle in a little bit of salt... just like you were going to scramble the egg.

Heat up your skillet (medium heat) and spray with Pam...
Dip your bread all the way into the egg mixture and cook and flip until both sides are toasty and the egg is done.

Cinnamon is good too...

I like to add a touch of vanilla and a little nutmeg too, it smells like christmas while their cooking.

ooh yum! i've done nutmeg before, but it hasn't made that much a difference. maybe i don't put enough? also, is this the basic recipe you use? because i don't think mine have turned out great. and i keep trying to make them because mike loves french toast. and do you use a specific bread or just whatever?

Yep that's pretty much the recipe I use. I just don't use wheat bread or really thin cheap bread. Texas toast, obviously, is the best.

Just remember girls... when you have a houseful of kids and are one a budget... french toast is a way to use bread that is on the verge of stale (not moldy obviously) so that it isn't wasted and gets thrown out.... it renews it and makes it a yummy breakfast for the kids... yes, even the cheap sandwich kind.

stale bread actually makes the best french toast because it soaks it up real nice. my recipe calls for less egg and more milk. And it does have vanilla! it is super yummy! i don't know why i follow a recipe! haha.
